This position is responsible for accurate coding of all Inpatient services, procedures, diagnoses and conditions, working from the appropriate documentation in the medical record. Experience with the following specialty expertise is required:

Cardiology/ Cardiovascular surgical and interventional

Internal Medicine

Ortho/ Spine surgery

General Surgery/ Trauma

Neurosurgery

Pediatrics

Vascular Interventional procedures..

Behavioral Health

Responsibilities and duties include and are not limited to: 

• Review, analyze and interpret the entire electronic medical record to identify all diagnoses and procedures documented during the registration.  
• Determine and assign the first listed and pertinent secondary ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes, along with CPT/HCPCS, using official coding guidelines and knowledge of anatomy and physiology, pharmacology and pathophysiology/disease processes.  

• Identify cases with clinical indicators that may require provider documentation clarification and/or specificity in order to accurately assign codes; collaborate with CDIS team as part of the clinical documentation validation and physician query workflows.  
• Confirm Admission-Discharge-Transfer (ADT) information and correct when necessary  
• Participate in coding quality and productivity processes. 

Requirements

Required Qualifications: 

• CCS, or RHIA/RHIT credential 
• 2-5+ years of Coding experience 
• Epic/3M experience 

Productivity

Accuracy at or above 95%

15-20 charts depending on the complexity

System Experience

Lifechart-Epic and 3M
